For an in-depth understanding and targeted strategies for challenging behaviours Functional Behaviour Analysis can help - for young people aged 6 to 16 years:
A Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA) is a structured assessment used to understand why behaviours occur and what maintains them. It identifies patterns, triggers, and the purpose a behaviour serves (such as seeking attention, avoiding tasks, or meeting sensory needs). This information is then used to develop practical, individualised strategies to reduce challenging behaviours and build safer, more adaptive skills across settings.
We provide comprehensive reports detailing the outcomes of our analysis which include targeted recommendations specific to your child and family.
The assessment process typically includes:
A clinical interview with the child’s parent(s) or caregivers to discuss developmental and background history.
Questionnaires sent to parent(s) and teachers to assess adaptive behaviours (Vineland-3).
Direct observation of the child or young person in school settings
Written report with break-down of analysis, interpretation and recommendations.
Connect Psychology Australia offer Psychological (Cognitive and Behavioural) Assessments for young people aged 6 to 16 years:

We provide comprehensive assessment reports that clearly outline findings and include tailored recommendations for your child and family. These reports can be used by paediatricians and psychiatrists to support the diagnostic process for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The assessment process typically includes:
A clinical interview with the child’s parent(s) or caregivers to discuss developmental and background history.
Questionnaires sent to parent(s) and teachers to assess adaptive behaviours (Vineland-3).
A cognitive assessment (IQ assessment) to develop an understanding of the child’s thinking, problem solving, and reasoning abilities (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V).
